ERA wants

  • to show hikers of the member organizations that they are part of a European-wide movement
  • to establish a conception which is apt to attract potential sponsors and to rise the interest of politicians and companies in order to promote the hiking movement in Europe
  • to show that hikers are responsible users of nature
  • put the emphasis in the E-trails
  • manifest the team-work of hikers within Europe with a third edition of Eurorando

Conception of Eurorando 2011

Two themes which have to be put together:
Main theme „Water"
Second theme: „Hiking

Water is omnipresent in our life, it serves as source of life and energy and as transportation way. It knows no borders.

Under the motto „Hiking on and to E-Trails", European hikers will carry the idea of the water through the whole of Europe to Andalusia.

Two teams are working on organization of Eurorando 2011:

Andalusia Project Team: For organization of all events connected with Eurorando 2011 in Andalusia.

ERA Project Team: Coordination of all events planned by member organizations

Objectives

Events are divided into three categories

1. Big national events with the act of collecting water

2. Small regional or local events with the act of collecting water

3. Walks on the E-Paths and to the E-Paths

1. Big national events with the act of collecting water

Each member organization which represents a country or a bigger region will fill a bucket with water typical for this country or region, somewhere on its grounds. It would be good if the water came from the most important European springs. However, it can also be water from rivers situated between the spring and the estuary, from lakes or other resources (e.g. glaciers).

At the event that should be held either on the place where the water is collected or on another centrally situated place, this ceremonial act will be presented to the people, media and politicians/authorities.

2. Small regional or local events with the act of collecting water

These events will be organized by regional or local walking organizations which need not to be necessarily members of the ERA. The course of the event is the same as in item 1.

3. Walks on the E-Paths and to the E-Paths

If it is impossible to collect water or if it is impossible to be integrated into some event, there can be organized a walk on or to some of the E-Paths, under the name of "Eurorando 2011".

What happens with the collected water?

Hiking groups or delegates from the whole Europe will take the water that has been collected to Andalusia. At the closing event in Alhambra/Granada, the buckets will be emptied into the Lion Fountain on the courtyard of Alhambra.
